I am so excited to welcome you to the second post of my Cozy Fall Home series! You can find the first post here. Today, I have my friend Lia from Southern Yankee DIY sharing her GORGEOUS fall bedroom makeover with us! She is so talented y'all, and I couldn't wait to share this with you all! Be sure to leave her a sweet comment telling her what you think about her beautiful fall bedroom makeover, and be sure to follow her blog and social media!
Its almost fall Y'all, and you know what that means?! It means getting to stack 15 boxes of pumpkin spice coffee on the conveyor without the Target employees judging you! Although, last week they were still pretty judgey. It means apple cider, warm cinnamon donuts, and cool fall days. My favorite part of fall though is getting my house decorated and ready for all the cozy days ahead! More specifically, I’m going to share with you how I get our bedroom ready for the cool fall days all on a DIY budget!
I know when I pull out the cozy bedding box even Justin, (my partner in crime & marriage, mostly crime though) gets excited! Here are some budget-friendly necessities for the coziest bed ever:
Start with soft sheets that have a good thread count. You don’t have to spend an arm & a leg to get good quality either. The pictured sheets we are super soft & I found them at Wayfair for under $40! Plus I love the look of the lace & the deep purple whispers fall to me.
The next layer I like to have is a down alternative comforter. These heavenly things give your bed that plush look & will keep you warm without overheating you. When I unpack this baby from the bedding box I throw it in the dryer to make it extra puffy! They come in lots of colors, but white is so classic & easily bleachable, which is a must in my household! I used that 20% off coupon I know we all have & purchased it at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
I like to finish off my layers with a light quilt. We keep it folded on the end of the bed for extra chilly nights or when Justin’s working late & the dogs wanna join me, it helps to hide the dog hair evidence from the white comforter. Gotta love multipurpose bedding! Quilts can range in price depending on what you want. I personally wanted super cute & affordable which I found here!
Last but not least pillows! As you can see I love me some pillows! My motto is you can never have too many & anyone who says you can is not invited over for any sleepovers at my house! I love to find my throw pillows at TJ Maxx, Home Goods, and Target. You can also buy throw pillow inserts & just change the covers to match different decor or seasons.
Fall Bedroom Decor
I love to decorate our bedroom for fall because I know that means pumpkin spice candles! I don’t know if y’all know but I am a fan of pumpkin spice! I like to put out decor that makes a room feel inviting, especially when I’m decorating the bedroom! So here is a list of my must-haves:
Candles, I mean obviously right?! How else is your bedroom going to smell like a pumpkin spice wonderland! Not only do candles bring in a seasonal scent, but they also create the cozy ambiance of the room. I get a lot of great candles at the dollar store. These are the ones I use just for looks because they usually don’t have a strong enough fragrance. My candles for lighting I find at Tj Maxx or the Target end caps, (that's where they hide the red-tagged goods).
I love to have baskets of extra pillows & blankets around for when I’m getting cozy with a book or Justin gets overtaken with the urge for a nap. Baskets are a great way to add texture to your room & can be found at any thrift store! Sometimes all they need is a little spray paint love or some whitewashing.
Chalkboard art is another budget-friendly way to add Fall to your bedroom. If you don’t have any chalkboards you can also use thrifted picture frames & printout fall art to put in them! You can find free printable art at the Southern Yankee Seasonal Home Tour!
Florals are another great way to incorporate fall into your bedroom! I personally can't keep anything real alive, besides Justin & the dogs, so faux florals are my go to! Plus, they are way cheaper than the real flowers & last a lot longer!
Faux pumpkins of course! I like to find these bad boys at the dollar store or on sale at Michaels & either spray paint them or whitewash them to fit my color scheme for the year! The possibilities for these are endless.
Use what you already have! Lots of times when I’m rummaging around for seasonal decor, I just pull out cool pieces that I already have & just place the fall stuff around them. Like these two wooden arches, I scored for $15 at Trade Days! I just placed some dollar store leaves on them & ta-da fall decor! The best part is when I pull them back out for Christmas & pair them with wreaths they will be Christmas decor!
And that's a wrap for me! I hope you enjoyed my budget-friendly fall bedroom finds.
